I is for 'I miss you like mango'

How can a series like this not have a song by our very own Himesbhai?

So this mindblowing number is from a 2011 movie called Damadamm! (The exclamation mark is part of the title; not added by me even though I truly believe that every Himesh movie should have it as a statutory warning).

Himesh is at an office party, flirting with his boss' sister...

...when his girlfriend calls and insists he stay on the phone with her for the duration of the party so they can 'be together'.

Thwarted, Himesbhai, your plans are thwarted.

So he decides to sing a song. A song that he can pretend is both for his girlfriend on the phone and boss ki behen at the party.

"Here's presenting a philosophical research that has been conducted... on mango." This is how he is introduced. I'm serious.

I know he looks like he's doing his signature OOOOOONNNN, but no, he's not. This song is not your typical Himesh song. This song is... about... a mango.

Jab tum jaati ho, jaldi nahin aati ho
I miss you baby, like mango.

Yes, that's right. He misses her. Like mango.

"Mango???" At first, the girlfriend, just like the rest of us, is stumped.

But soon, the rhythm's got her.

Tere intzaar mein na apples na tango
O mango...

Say what?!

It's love at first sight mango of the season.

And it's not just boss ki behen. We all know from all his movies how much firang women dig our Himesbhai.

Can you blame her then? How can she help herself? If a man like him is singing a song like this?

"You're my mangooooooo."

Baarah maheene paas hi rehna
Door na jana
Like mango...

Tera mera falsafa
Kuchh ajeeb kuchh naya
Har kisi se hai juda
Like mango...

I kept wondering throughout the song what this mango was supposed to mean and part of me was sure that towards the end they'd somehow explain the mango connection and the significance of the fruit in the song. But nope, what you see is what you get.

Mango. Just mango.

Enjoy, guys. No aam song this, I tell you.
