Bhatt of jokes

It's been quite a few weeks since the bar had a 'video of the week', and here's the perfect video for the comeback.

Is she cool or is she cool?

Gana wala song

When I heard the song 'Ishq wala love' from the upcoming KJ movie 'Student of the year', my first reaction was... "WHAT THE...?!" Then I calmed down and said in a more dignified manner, "Oh, what a nice tune. Ruined by atrocious lyrics." Ok, at least they didn't make Himesh sing it. He would have changed it to "Oooooo....Ishqqq walalalalalalalalalalalalala sonnnnnggggggg!"

Anyway, I came across this spoof of the song which I wanted to share with the bewdas. Though the singing in this version is not great (it's quite bad actually), the lyrics are way better than the original. Enjoy! (Please watch the original first, if you already haven't.)

PS: If the movie bombs, I'll do an SSSK post on it. Pakka.

A nose for trouble

MTV is shocking.

Shocking shocking shocking.

I got a big shock the other day, and I thought I should warn all of you out there who may unknowingly switch on the TV and see what I saw, and hear what I heard. And I think Xena did too. Oh the horror.

Lock your doors and windows. Hide your kids.

He is back.

(And no, he is not better.)

The birds and the nerds

Me - Hmmm... so these birds are supposed to be... umm... angry?

Viv - Yup.

Me - Because the pigs stole their eggs?

Viv - Yup.

Me - The pigs stole their eggs??

Viv - Yup.

Me - And they launch themselves off a slingshot to hit the pigs?

Viv - Yup.

Me - And most of them just die and then they explode?

Viv - Yup.

Me - And yet, they're so eager to die, the second in line is already jumping up and down waiting for its turn on the slingshot?

Viv - Yup.

Me - And some of these pigs wear... umm... helmets?

Viv - Yup.

Me - And you don't find any of this ridiculous???

Viv - Try it.

Ooooh. Dangerous dangerous words. Bad bad idea.

Now I am addicted. :|

And the biggest side-effect?

Like Viv says (and I fully agree), every time you see a bird anywhere, you wonder if it's angry.

Truth of the youth

I had been hearing and reading a lot about Munni vs. Sheela on radio. Also, someone's Facebook status was 'Agar Sheela pehle jawaan ho jaati toh Munni itni badnaam nahin hoti'. Sheesh, but it made me laugh. So I decided to look up this Sheela chick.

And it drove me nuts. I'm not sure if it's in a good or a bad way. Agreed, that Katrina looks hot and the tune is really catchy, but what's with the lyrics???

My name is Sheela
Sheela ki jawani
I'm too sexy for you
Main tere haath na aani

Am I missing something? What does she mean "My name is Sheela, Sheela ki jawani"? Sheela ki jawani what?! There's no follow-up to the words 'Sheela ki jawani'! She just goes on to a completely new statement! In English! It's driving me mad!!! I need to be able to explain it!!!! (Though honestly I don't think it bothers anyone as much as it bothers me.)

Wait, maybe she's Sindhi and her surname is Kijawani? Now THAT makes sense -- My name is Sheela. Sheela Kijawani. Like 'My name is Bond. James Bond.' No? Okay fine. Hmmph. You explain it.

For those who have not yet seen the song (unlikely), check it out, featuring as the video of the week at the bar -- 'Love-it-or-hate-it-you-can't-ignore-it -- Sheela ki jawani'.

Money talks

Okay, so this video is like FOUR years old but I don't care. I just chanced upon it (thanks to Bivas) and it's awesome and it's the video of the week at the bar. :)

If the embedded video is lagging, you can watch it directly on Youtube.

In the wrong hands

I was watching Neil Nitin Mukesh and Abhay Deol in Farah Khan's show 'Tere mere beach mein' on Youtube. I had no idea both of them were SO hilarious. Check out the game they play and the presence of mind they show (you can skip the first 3 minutes of the video, the fun starts after that).

Young blood

Check out this hilarious video. It's in the same genre as Benny Lava, but the kid makes it way funnier!

Ek hockey doongi rakh ke!

Caught this ad yesterday. Instantly got interested. Sehwag starting off with "Main is baar nahin khelunga!" is a brilliant hook. Loved it. In fact, loved the ad all the way...

...until he said what he said towards the end... sheesh.

Sehwag ke bache, couldn't you have asked them to tweak the script than to blatantly declare, "Main apni team ke saaaare matches dekhne jaaunga"?

Yeah, right. :/

The boy wizard

No, not Harry Potter.

I'm talking about our own little wizard. Check out this amazing 1989 video.

If you notice, except for the diction which has gotten more refined over the years, nothing else has changed. Two decades. Countless world records. But the man continues to carry himself in the same humble manner.

Amazing.

What (c)rap!

I took this video atop the Prudential Tower in Boston of two immigration officers rapping about American citizenship. I'm not quite sure if they meant this to be serious stuff, but it's T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E and H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S at the same time!

I've typed out the "lyrics" below the video.

"So you want to be US citizen?
No problem, step up to Immigration!
Before you become part of the US of A
Now you and I shall complete a little survey.
Don't be insulted, it's just a few questions.
But people must be consulted
Through what we call the constitution.
We might look tough, we might make you angry.
But we do this stuff to protect our home and country.
Who are you? Where are you from?
Where have you been? What have you done?
We need to know about you, that's no big fuss.
And you also need to learn about us.
What's your date of birth and address?
What's the Congress?
Are you crazy, violent or running away?
Are you trying to get in illegally?
Who's the father of this country?
Do you know what is Flag Day?
Are you a drug trafficker?
Do you have a social security number?
Now what is the declaration of Independence?
Are you ready to pledge allegiance?
Have you been declared legally incompetent?
Now do you know who was the first president?
Have you been a patient in a mental institution?
Can you talk about the constitution?
Have you been to war against the US of A?
Are you ready to fight for your new country?
What do you know about our history?
What are Texas, Delaware and New Jersey
In this country do you know anybody?
Where are you going? Got any money?
In God we trust, So in return you must
have good intentions to be part of our great nation
It's the home of the brave, the land of the free
The world that's great, the land of opportunity
It's a privilege to become a citizen
It's a privilege to be called an American!"

I think I should write one for Singapore! ;)

Sabka rab ek hai

One of the bar's bewdas TMaYaD sent me this really cool video. A contestant at Taiwan Super Idol sings a Hindi song 'Tujh mein rab dikhta hai'.

Watch it. It's adorable.

Singing a different tune

Hmm... why do I discover these hilarious videos after like a year or two? Many of you may have already seen this, but I came across it only recently.

Now all of us, at one point or the other, have pinched our noses and gone 'Ooooooonnnnnnnn' a la Himesbhai, but this dude's rendition is just impeccable.

Prince... Charming!

I didn't have the chance to catch India's Got Talent on TV but Youtube ki jai ho, I came across the winning final act -- Dashavtara (the ten avtaras of Vishnu). Prince Dance Group, made up of 26 daily wage labourers, have created something so beautiful, your heart will ache for reasons you won't know.

"Is pachaas laakh ki hum logon ko chaah nahin hai, balki iski sakht zaroorat hai."

("We don't desire the 50-lakh prize. We desperately need it.")

Watch their semi-final performance here -- it's not every day that you see Shekhar Kapoor crying so bad he can hardly speak.
(Okay I admit I too shed ganga-jamuna bigtime.)

Come again?

While rehearsing for the dance we did for Shub's surprise birthday party, I realised that this song, even though featuring rather heavily in all our get-togethers, has actually never made it to 'Video of the week' at the bar. Before you do a double-take and yell, "WHAT? You guys danced at Shub's surprise birthday party??", take a look at the video. You'll soon be yelling, "WHAT? You guys danced to THIS at Shub's surprise birthday party??"

Oh the singing. The dancing. The lyrics. The movie title (Operation Diamond Racket). I have no words to describe them.

Presenting, bewdas and bewdis, "If you come today", second only to the legendary Benny Lava.

*respect*

This is a pretty old video and some of you may have already seen it, but I just came across it and was so amazed it had to be the video of the week!

String quartet

I'd seen this video sometime last year, but this morning Viv was playing it on youtube and I remembered how this had blown me away the first time I'd seen it. Thought I'd play it at the bar on this lazy sunday afternoon.

Youtube video courtesy of rpoland.

If you have the time, do experience it twice, the first time without watching the video. Unbelievable what someone can create using a single instrument...
