Awesome mausam

When you're studying for exams, you gotta plan your time very well. You gotta make an agenda for the day.

So today, on my agenda was Salaam Namaste, parts of 'Goodness Gracious Me', checking email, reading blogs, a big packet of Ruffles sour cream & onion and two tubs of Ben & Jerry's (dark chocolate and cheescake-strawberry). This was to be followed by vegetarian maggi mee moreng at my favourite 24-hour roadside hawker centre.

Studying Statistics and Media & Marketing was also on the agenda somewhere.

I think.

(Now you know why I had to hire a bouncer to keep an eye on me over the long weekend to make sure I get some studying done.)

But hey, study I did.

Till the damn weather distracted me. As I pored over topics like nominal variables, chi-square tests, analysis of variance, independent-samples t-test (how interesting. :|), I heard thunder! An avid lover of rain, I rushed to my cope bhavan to check out the awesome mausam. It was simply brilliant.

First the dark clouds, and then the wild rain beating down so hard that it sounded like hailstones against the windows. Soon, I had to shut the window, but I could still see the rain. Heavenly.

"I'm so glad glass is a transparent material." I declared, as I watched the rain through my window pane.

My bouncer laughed.

Ah, well. That's me. I am thankful for weird things. I rejoice about things that would ordinarily make people go "Duh!" In fact, every year I go, "Wow, Good Friday falls on a friday this year?! Long weekend, yeay!"

I know. :|

Call me idealistic or ultra-optimistic, but I refuse to join the 'everything sucks' gang, who are forever cribbing about their lives, and saying that there is not much around them to rejoice about. I refuse to be negative just because being negative is the new 'cool'. If anything, I'm sure glad I have not lost my ability to appreciate.

If we really look, there's plenty of things to celebrate, isn't it?

Ah, I was sitting in the kitchen trying to study, when I saw these huge dark grey ominous clouds hanging low in the sky, right outside the huge glass windows of the kitchen. Bee-yoo-tiful!

I took some pics with my phone, but I can't post it anywhere, since it doesn't have infra-red or ultra-violet or what-have-you. Now I'm sad. I wan't my very own digi-cam! :(

And oh. I love the rain too. :)

I love the rain too! but it should be warm- the cold, chilling rain is nasty.
And with it there should be some garam garam chai, some pakode, a nice book,
or well, in your case, a thick statistics text-book!
best of luck for the egg-jhams, sayesha. go kick ass!

TGWSTW,
this won't last too long, bacchi. so enjoy it while it does.

sayesha,
to clarify- i like being outside in the rain when the weather is warm, or just cool.

cold, icy, wintry rain pierces through the skin like needles- more the bone-chilling type and is nasty. It's also kinda gloomy all around- and i'm not a huge fan of it.

"Cool, chilling" rain, let's say is an in-between, and is quite refreshing, true.

i hope you've an exam question now "classify the different types of rainfall seen world-over". :-)

I completely agree with your attitude. People can choose to be either energy sources or energy sinks.

On rain , sorry yaar...I vote to stop the constant raining. Getting caught in the rain on bike is DANGEROUS :O

Cheers

Life itself is a celebration, which we often tend to forget. As for the rains which I adore too, so many songs come to mind...tip tip barsa paani...on the rain, in the rain!!! :D Thanks for the lovely pics as usual...i want a digicam too! On the verge of getting one, which explains the gizmo craze i'm experiencing lately :D.. I also agree that a fone needs to be basic, but you can't carry a digicam everywhere, can you!! So, one that is built into the fone is kinda nice :D Also, 'always on' radio/mp3 is kinda nice too :D

Raindrops keep falling on my head.....:-)

*clicks heels in air like Sinatra*

:) u've quite a chirpy attitude. hey, doesn't rain heighten one's sense of ..err..what shall i say...feeling good about the world...? dhuli-dhuli see zindagee lagtee hai, hai na?

on another note, india mein badii garmee hai aajkal. pics dekhkar mann ko shaanti mili...:P

@spamtaneous...
how do u define rain as being "silly" ? i mean, justify the adjective, man.

Archana said...

"If we really look, there's plenty of things to celebrate, isn't it?"

So true :-D! As long as we can find things to feel happy about it, life is never, ever going to be a drag :-D!

p.s. We did not have any long weekend here *sob*. BUT - we are having plenty of rain. However, after nearly a month of daily copious rains, rain is beginning to lose its magic for me!

Joy said...

Rain reminds me of my mother's delicious broth, my comfy bed and teddy bear...back home in a tropical country where I lived most of my life.

But I don't need the rain in spring, I want the sun! It's been raining here for weeks and weeks. I have enough of this cold winterly weather plus the generous clouds pouring its worth...

*sigh, sigh, sigh* and thanks for reminding me that there's a plenty to celebrate! :-))

#The Girl,

Dude, you gotta be careful on those 'do-not-balance-by-themselves-modes-of-transport', okay? Bikes are really dangerous! :S

#R3N3,
Aha! Just cos you've disguised your name on this post, you think I won't recognise you as the one who insulted me? Hahahaha! :D

#Shub,
Brrr... all the best!!!! :)

#Rohit,
Spammy ko samjha na... or perhaps he's inhuman! Hahahaha! :D

#Sanyukta,
//dhuli-dhuli see zindagee lagtee hai, hai na?

Hehehe! That's a nice way of putting it! :)

#Archana,
No long weekend???? No long weekend???? :O :O :O

Don't worry, it will stop raining soon, and then you will miss it :)

#Joy,
Hehe.. yeah I guess if it rains too much, then it was getting a bit annoying :P
