Luck of the draw

Sometimes Viv and I play a variation of pictionary where the players don't draw and guess stuff word by word. There is no 'Is it xxx?', no nodding, no shaking, and no multiple attempts. The person drawing draws the whole thing at a go, and the person guessing has to guess it in one go too, without making random guesses or checking back. The guesser just has to process the picture, think hard enough and then provide the final answer. It takes a painful amount of time to think (especially when I'm looking at one of Viv's 'creative' drawings), and sometimes the drawing may look like it's something very obvious, but you have to look at every single nuance in the drawing, go through the thought process of the other person, and work out all the little details of why they drew what they drew in order to truly decipher it. Being the true geeks that we are, we don't really mind it.

It's tougher than regular pictionary and annoying for most people and that's why when the two of us play pictionary, we play this version. Just like how we got bugged of regular Scrabble and then started playing reverse Scrabble. The rules are the same, but you make the words right to left, and bottom to top. Our next attempt is kind of erm... 'state'ist -- to play Bong Scrabble and Mallu Scrabble and Gujju Scrabble, where we spell the words the way they are pronounced in the respective states.

Going back to our little game of pictionary last week, here's an excerpt. Can you guess which Bollywood songs we drew? To see the answers, highlight the space between the two '*' symbols below each picture.

My picture
Answer:*Tere ishq mein mar java*

Viv's picture
Answer: *Masakali
(In case you're scratching your head, it's Felipe Massa + kali)
*

PS: Yes, we guessed both songs within a minute. :P

Having read the earlier posts on pictionary, i was expecting something similar.......but this one was simply truly absolutely fantabulous........!!!!!!! Masakali.....aka Fillepe Masa....ha ha ha ha.......ROTFL......Bhai if you managed to crack this one without help......then i think you should get one full years worth of Kolkata'special Paani Puris as a gift from all bewadas....what imagination Viv had......amazing!!!!:D :D :D...or maybe by now you have already learnt to think like him and can get the song quickly :).

And well, aapka pictionary bhi was quite creative , but still decipherable...i think..ummm....though i am bad at this game. :((

Ya Ali!

I guessed the one you drew.

I still don't know who or what a Felipe Massa is.

I think simpler way would be, draw a bicep, and that flower.

Muscle+Kali

A general way, not needing too much GK :P

Simple pigeon would work?

Heeeheee I think its just that I cant bear the fact that I couldn't guess that one. Due to technicality that I don't follow racing (guessing). I got loads of imagination, but the playing field just wasn't level :P

In fact, whats perhaps a racing car, I thought it was a flying machine with a fan in the front!

So I was thinking on the lines of Udan khatola...

:P

WOW! Kaise yaar! Massakalli ? How did viv even think of drawing that ? And to top it , you even guessed ! Awesome! :D

Pictionaries are one of my favorite posts. And frankly I expected more pictures.

It was awesome though. I was thinking "tere pyar (keliye) mar ti(tea)". Not really a bollywood person. But JAVA? OMFG. You rock.

Knowing viv, I gave up on his pictionary at once. But you guessed? Are you psychic? Tell me, I know a hundred ways to use that to take over the world. :D

Ha ha! Tats some innovative use of Pictionary... And you knw wat? after reading your posts on Pictionary, i am very much enthusiastic to start playing this with my family... I'll target it for the coming weekend :)

Lemme make my guess: is the first one "Tere ishq mein mar java" from Fashion? I tried hard to decipher the second, but my Hindi is still too weak for tat...

Sanchit said...

i adore the finesse with which you made that java symbol... i abs. adore u for that.. but but but i cant understand how the second one was masakalli...

Haan Bhai! Maanta hoon ki Chinese Negro nahin hotey! But some things are to be taken literarily rather than literally.

Otherwise, all Chinese girls would be born married! Why? Kyonki bachpan se hi haath peele hotey hain!

Khair partypooper bankey hi sahi, Bhai hamari mehfil mein toh aaye!

Anybody who reads this and does not understand, its not your fault.
Its an insider talk. Only those who read this are insiders:
