Order of the day

It's not always waiters and waitresses who mess up our orders. Sometimes, we do it ourselves. The reason can be anything, but it makes the server go "Huh?"

Overheard by a colleague in the lunch queue at Subway sandwich yesterday:

Server - May I have your order, sir?
Hungry guy - Uh... One football please.
Server - Huh??

(Correct order: foot-long meat-ball.)

Overheard in my university canteen many many years ago:

Thirsty guy - Aunty, can I have an iced milo without milo?
Drinks lady - Huh??

(Correct order: iced milo without ice)

Viv (at McDonalds) - Can I have a sausage Macmuffin without the sausage?

Got a story to share?

==========================

Added from the comments' section:

Creepa - Can I have chocolate-flavoured vanilla ice-cream?

Overheard by Oxymoron - Can I have a hot 'iced latte'?

Playing in the head of Thisisme - Can I have a chicken terimaki?

Friend of Bivas - The cold coffee is too cold.

Belinda -
Auntie, can I have dry wanton noodles but without wanton, add extra char siew please, thank you.

Dhaval - E
k ek ek glass juice dena.. means ke ek ek ek karke teen glass juice dena.

Overheard by Neihal - Mirchi bhajji, theekha kam.

Manchus - Pizza without cheese.

Cliche - Can I have a sausage Macmuffin without the sausage?

Art -
Can I have a mushroom and tomato soup without mushroom?

Clueless - McChicken without the chicken, please!

Clueless again - So what flavoured vanilla rolls do i get? Strawberry?

Confused Soul's nephew -
Can you please heat this ice lemon tea for me?

Sandew's friend at Subway - Veggie Delight please.
Server- Which veggies?
Sandew's friend - Err none ?

Naresh - One Chicken Pizza without the chicken pieces please!

Friend of Sugar n Spice -

A little out of context ;)

On the first day of our new caterer's, one of the caterers comes to our lunch table and talks to one of my colleagues.

Caterer: Sir, how is the food?
Colleague: Its good, its good !
Caterer: Any suggestions sir?
Colleage: Nahi bhai, its good !!
Caterer: Which items did you like specially ?
Colleague: Aaj main upwaas mein hoon !!

All the people at the table 'rofl'ed so hard ki woh caterer bhaag gaya. Obviously uski batti nahi jali thi ki he assumed they would suck like they always do ... :))

hahaha...i dunno if this is the right place to write this..but when i went to subway for the 1st time in uk...i had to order chicken teriyaki..and dunno y..as absurd as it sounds..chicken terimaki kept playin in my head..had to try hard to say the right word :D (maybe such words come naturally to a delhiwali :D)

of course..slips of the tongue r galore..like one of my college roomies..she had this habit of sayin "naune po" for "paune no" when asked abt time..v used to luv askin her the time whenever it was "naune po" :D

Thinking of restaurants, i remember this little incident that happened when in college:

Friend n me were eating cutlets in an eatery outside college. it was terrible... no amount of sauce made it taste good... so both of us said aloud: "these guys need to change their cutlet recipe, this one sucks big time"...

and lo behold! next time we went there the waiter served us complimentary cutlets, new recipe, new taste and i must say, it was awesome!

I remember once at a cafe...a friend was complaining that the Cold Koffee was indeed too cold! (of course the reference was actually to too much ice n less of coffee!)

terimakis means 'thanks a lot'!

How about 'Pizza without Cheese' :) I do order that and I get it right these days. Probably, because the Pizza person knows my order. First time everyone has a quizzical looks!! I totally understand, but I just cannot eat cheese.

I do the "McChicken without the chicken, please!" thing quite often. You'd think the McDonald's people would've gotten used to it by now, but they still give me puzzled stares everytime I say something like that ;)

remember Sally's order from "When Harry Met Sally"

Sally Albright: But I'd like the pie heated and I don't want the ice cream on top, I want it on the side, and I'd like strawberry instead of vanilla if you have it, if not then no ice cream just whipped cream but only if it's real; if it's out of the can then nothing.
Waitress: Not even the pie?
Sally Albright: No, I want the pie, but then not heated.

Lol!!! Too funny..

To add to this:

Confused Soul: Hey, since you're going to fair price, can you please get me a packet of vanilla rolls? Thanks.
Clueless [very seriously]: Sure, which flavour though? Strawberry?

Lol!!

One more..

My nephew had a cold but he wanted to have ice lemon tea.. and my sister didn't want to give him cold stuff.. so she bought ice lemon tea, and went up to the counter and said "can you please heat this ice lemon tea for me?" Those people burst out laughing!

Confused Soul said...

Oh I see Macho girl has already told you about the vanilla rolls incident :P

Directhit said...

this one aint on the customer.. it was on the waitress instead
This was at Komala's on Lil India near Mustafa...

The person in the queue before me - Set Dosa
Cashier - you have to take mrt to harbour front and take bus from there...

apparently, someone has been asking her directions jus before that and she mistook set dosa as "Sentosa". the girl was laughing for some good 20 minutes after that.

Usually sane cousin at McDonald's at breakfast time: I want an egg and bacon muffin without egg and bacon. :D
Me to my mom (every single day): No tadke-waali daal/rajmah/saag. Poor thing. Those things are impossible without tadka. She used to make it all separately for me. And because of this silly habit of mine, I still end up saying in desi restaurants: daal makhni without tadka. Gosh!

PS: My gmail space limit has exceeded. I can't email you guys. The stupid thing isn't allowing me. Waaaaaaaaaa! :'( Halp!
