The power of association

So after her bath, baby Aish was running all over the house in her chaddi, with my sister trying to catch hold of her. (I seriously think that's how sis maintains her figure, because she doesn't do any other workout.)

"Aish, come back! Let me put some clothes on you!" My sister yelled. But Aish was way faster than her mother. Finally, after a long chase, my sister caught up with the tapori.

"Nangu baby!" She chided Aish and proceeded to put on the clothes.

A few days later, my sister was watching the song 'Chura ke dil mera' when Aish stopped by.

[I couldn't find the exact image I wanted so I played the song on youtube, paused it at the appropriate scene and then did a screen capture.]

Aish watched the song for a while with my sister. Then she pointed to Shilpa Shetty on the screen, tossed her little head and haughtily said, "Nangu baby!"

Hahaha OMG! This is like flash back. Honestly. My cousin who was around two and a half at that time and had only started to recognize cloth items by then. I had gone to my uncle's for the summer after my SSC Board exams and we were watching this songs channel on cable I think it was called ATN and my lil cousin is sitting there in a big chair watching songs with me and there comes Karishma's "sexy sexy sexy mujhe log bole" and she's dressed in shiny red bikini like glittery costume (I could never forget her costume after this incident) and she's on the floor doing this snake movement kind of dance (they show her from the back) and out of nowhere this kiddo goes (in Gujarati) "jo ene chaddi nathi peri" meaning "look, she's not wearing any undies" LOL my uncle-aunt and I still laugh about it today some fifteen years later and tease my cousin. :P

Oh reminded me of another funny incident. My friend's kid here in the US loves to dance ever since she learned to move around. They've had cable since forever so my friend watches movies and whatnot. So once they were showing that "naiyo naiyo mainu dil tera" song starring Preity and Bobby. Somewhere in the song PZ lifts her light blue top but realizes she can't do what BD just did. :P hahaa! and next day her 3-yr old copies PZ but you can imagine what it turned out like. :P My friend tried to make her forget for weeks with no luck and eventually gave up. Now she's realized the value of those ratings and doesn't let the kid anywhere near a turned on TV. :D

Bhai ask your sis not to ever turn on Mallika Sherawat's songs in front of Aish... Then she might just get more confused :)

Me and a friend were at a coffee shop last night after work and she was a bit upset about something.

"So," I asked her, "have you read Sayesha's latest post?"

"Kaun si waali?" she asked.

"Arre, woh 'Power of Association' waali" I said, not wanting to give away the suspense.

"Oh!!" my friend goes...and then with a BIG grin on her face, she goes "NANGU BABY !!"

:D

@Shilpa Shetty: Beti, tere din to ab khatam...you have forever been labelled!! LOL.
