The twin babies

During my India trip early this year, one morning I woke up to witness a sight so endearing I couldn't help capturing it forever in my camera. It was my grandma taking my niece in her stroller around our ancestral house. I've looked at this photo many many times, and seen layers and layers of that certain undefinable something - the human spirit perhaps - that tugs at my heart every time I look at this photo. So today, I decided to fill in the missing words to complete this story.

Decades ago I came to this house
I was but a little girl
Unaware and uncertain
Of how my life was to unfurl

The wrinkles on my face
Can tell you many a story
Days of my forgotten youth
And the past in all its glory

But now I'm like you in some ways
I need help with whatever life brings
I have to eat mushy food like you
And I don't remember a lot of things

You've travelled more than me
And seen so many more places
But there's something I've seen a lot more of
Life and its many strange faces

I can only show you the blue sky
And the white clouds and the birds
There's so much more I want to tell you
But you just haven't learnt enough words

Ninety years stand between us
And you're too young to see what I see
You may be my daughter's daughter's daughter
But you know what? A part of you is me.

Beautifully potrayed the similarities and the differences. The human life cycle does come a full circle and yet there is that slight yet significant difference of experiencing life! :-)

Thats so beautifully put in. "Ek sadi ka faasla ho shayad lekin dhund mein bhi main deksakthi hoon mere saaye ko,meri hi tho parchayi ho tum, pehchaan ho,ek sadi ka faasla ho shayad, lekin mera hi tho ek hissa ho"

Absolutely brilliant, Sayesha bhai!

~knock wood~ It must be a beautiful feeling to look into old eyes which lovingly appreciate the new generation which has evolved from their own flesh and blood.

The rest of us just look up at the sky and smile. :)
