Now I am generally not the "Why me???? Why only me???? Why not them??????" kind of a person, but recently a situation presented itself before me that made me say these very words.
Recently, my niece Aishu celebrated her 5th birthday. Mom, who is in the US now to see her freshly-minted grandson, was giving me the low-down on the phone. Aishu had had a lot of people wishing her and asking her how old she was. "I am FIVE years old!" She declared. In jest, my mom asked her, "And how old is your mom?" She looked lost for a while and then came up with what she considered a number much bigger than five.
"Ummm... Mom is fifteen years old." She said.
"And your Dad?" Asked my mom, after she was done laughing.
"Hmm... Eighteen."
The rising levels of amusement around her and the fact that nobody was correcting her was making her more and more confident, so her answers started coming in thick and fast.
"How about grandma?"
"Grandma... Twenty-four years old."
"And grandpa?"
"Twenty-seven years old."
"How about Mausi?"
"Mausi? Thirty years old."

No seriously, why me???? Why only me???? Why not them?????

LOL - did you not tell her once over the phone that you were 30? Maybe she remembered that!
Hahahahahahah :D The angst is justified!
But you know what, ask your mum to change the order and ask Aishu once again.. I have a feeling you'll be second time lucky :D
Haha...at least she got one answer right :P ;) Btw, I claim all Gold, Silver and Bronze! Muhahahaha!!!!!!
Jesus Christ.... Tiny tapori sure has an awesome understanding of ages... :p :p
kidding.. :D
this was one funny post...
ROFL!!!
Btw your post about Xena and how you dealt were very inspiring. Thanks a lot for keeping people like me inspired.
Hahaha, reminds me of Angad telling me "Amma's butt is as big as Iz's!"
Hi Sayesha!! I just want to let you know, that I read your blogpost about Xena's birth and it was after a very, very long time that I had read something so inspiring, so magical. I had logged in after a really long time and was completely moved by your's and Viv's spirit and strength. A good story always makes you think, and this one has made me think so much! My heartfelt congratulation with you people. Xena is a very lucky baby! :D
Funny!!! Anyway it means Aishu has the highest regard for you :)
My relatives' little squeezables here in New Jersey of similar age have similar estimates of people's ages :) Unified Field Theory of Toddler Behavior, anyone?
lol. Hilarious.
hee hee old bhai.. hee hee hee!
LOL :) Aishu's back with her witty stuff. Waiting to hear of Xena's soon..
ha ha ha :D and I agree with Alec Smart!!.. Or maybe Aishu is sooo fond of u..that she bothered only to remember ur age ;)
Yep..very unfair :D
Hi
I have been reading your blog for the past 5-6 years and have probably never left a comment so far (Yes - i am the qunitessential lurker here). But, your post on Xena and the way she fought her way into this world was truly inspiring. I was touched to see your spirit throughout the entire 4-5 months, and must say that you and Viv are fantastic people, and have tremendous fighitng spirit too. Or to put in the bar language - "Agar Xena fighter hai tho, Sayesha/Viv uska/uski maa/baap hai".
I loved it when you ended the third episode of New-kid-on-the-blog post saying - "The bar is a happy place. It has always been and it will always be". I completely agree with you on this. For past 6 years, your posts have added a lot of happiness to readers like me - its a strange form of kinship knowing that someone else goes thru' the same highs and lows as ourselves.
Thank you for all the joy you have been spreading. All these good vibes will only come back to you as good wishes in the future.
I will pray for all the three of you today. Take care. God bless.
