The ten-year itch

So I returned to the crime scene to pick up my new passport. Pushing my way through the crowd, I eavesdropped on more instances of "Agar yahan aisa hai toh socho India mein kaisa hoga?" and "Excuse me, my name is Ramamurthy Balakrishnan but my passport says Balakrishnan Ramamurthy!"

Finally I had my passport. As I flipped through it to ensure that there would be no reason for me to have to go back to the embassy and stand in the queue that extends to the road, it suddenly struck me why divorce rates in India are (still) lower than some other countries.

They put your spouse's name on your passport.

lol @ 'ten year itch' !

@urv, given the name, ur roommate must be a tamilian .. some of whom have the tendency of having their father's first name as their surname .. and i guess ur roommate has been named after his grandfather (for the given name) thereby creating identical names for him and his father :D

Sash bhai.

Utterly butterly funny!

@urv,mythalez. I have a Tamilian friend whose first name and surname are both the same. To top that, that's his dad's name as well.

Cheers,

@mythalez
Yes you are spot on :) He is a Tamilian. But only as far as the name goes. His native is on Kerala border, he was born in Maharashtra, brought up in Gujarat, and now lives in Karnataka. :)

@Rosh
Mannnnn!! That would be a lotta confusion :) Or rather no confusion :D

haha.. Indian laws should have a rule, to apply for divorce you should already have a passport, the rates would come down even further
