The wrong song

Some things happen by accident. And they trigger us to think.

I had heard the title song of the movie 'Dus' on TV and had been craving to get the full song. I managed to get my hands on a file titled Dus_title_song.mp3.

Ten seconds of playing time and I realised that it wasn't the song I'd been looking for.

Something went beep in my head.

*Alert. Wrong file downloaded. Sayesha, run for your life!*

I wasn't over-reacting. The last time something like this had happened was in my first year at university when, craving for a dose of F.R.I.E.N.D.S to accompany a solitary lunch, I downloaded a file called Friends_new.avi. Well, it turned so that the file did have friends, but… errr… let's just say that the friends in that file were getting a bit more than 'friendly'. Needless to say, I immediately proceeded to lose both my appetite and my song-downloading software.

Ever since, I have been paranoid of the 'wrong-file-name' syndrome.

So when Dus_title_song.mp3 started playing, and did not sound like what I had bargained for, I had to stop it immediately.

I SO did not want the audio version of Friends_new.avi!!!!

By the time I made a dash to stop the song, it was already about ten seconds into the song. And the lyrics went thus:

Who's daaat gurlll… the one that's got it goin' on
Who's daaat gurlll… I really gotta know I really need to know
Who's daaat gurlll… who dat girl who dat girl, where's she from
Who's daaat gurlll… na na na seen her, I gotta meet her!

Yikes.

I was almost about to dismiss it as another nonsensical remix of an oldie with some English words thrown in as garnish, and extended my hand to pause the song, when Sonu Nigam's voice rang through…

Dil kuchh kehta hai, lab kuchh kehte hain…
Behke behke se hum hote hain…
Jo kehna chahe woh keh bhi jaaye...
Aise lamhe toh kam hote hain...

So I paused my pausing action, and listened on.

Pyaar mein koi nayi baat nahin yeh, aisa jo ho jaaye...
Dhoonde nigaahein jab har pal usko, apna dil kho jaaye...

Aankhon mein jo chehra uska thoda sa dhundhlaaye re...
Chham se woh aa jaaye, chham se aa jaaye...
Chham se woh aa jaaye, man pe chhaa jaaye...

(The gist of the song being "Every time the image of her face in my eyes starts to fade, she suddenly turns up at my doorstep!")

"Hmmm… not too bad", I thought.

After having listened to it a few times, the song started growing on me. The fact that my Shaan sang the later part just made it even easier on the ears.

I played it at least thirteen times on loop that night.

'Cos the wrongly downloaded song had forced me to think.

It often happens to me -- if I really really like someone, I often find myself unable to remember how they look like! I have difficulty describing their faces to others, and worse, to myself! And I would wish they could suddenly appear before me, so I could remember how they look like.

So here was a very interesting thought. What if what they said in the song could really happen? What if when we missed someone, they really did turn up suddenly?

Don't we all crave for those moments? When all we want is that person we miss, to be right next to us, even if it is for a very brief moment? It's okay if they have to go away afterwards, we just want to live those special moments with them.

And in the same way, perhaps someone somewhere is craving for our company, craving for us to travel across the miles at the speed of light, and be there with them in a flash. Because they are thinking of us.

What if we really could get there "chham se" when they miss us and we miss them?

Aankhon mein chehra uska thoda sa dhundhlaaye re...
Chham se woh aa jaaye, chham se aa jaaye...

(Of course, guys may wanna refrain from using the sound effect when they turn up. The very thought of a guy turning up "chham se" is extremely disturbing.)

I couldn't stop thinking about it, and how I would react if every time I missed a friend, they just turned up! Or if I turned up at their doorstep when they thought of me.

Sometimes, we just can't suddenly be there, even if the person misses us badly and we miss the person badly. The timing is all wrong, or the distances are just too great, or there are other reasons holding us back.

We just can't, can we?

But what if we could?

wow, second comment. Great achievement for me. Anyways, a world like that would be scary. Sometimes people seem better when they are far away.

Hey Me Third.. :)
Not a bad ranking on Sayesha's.. I have generally been 20+ :D

Good Blog.....Real life is just like this... We can miss people but we/they can't be there..

Its a fantasy.. you think & they are there...
Another...one..Its like your "thumb memory" Sometimes..people are there.. their memories are there in my mind..... something just make us recall all those moments.. we feel..like we lived those moments again....which gives a good feeling..

There's nothing to fear about an audio file... after no1 wud wanna hear 2 overfriendly friends doin somtn... seein is another thing.. hehe

anyways
If that was possible to koi kuch kaam hee na kar paata... idhar udhar jaate jaate haalat kharab ho jaati!

imagine...
if 1 american friend wants 2 talk 2 you and 2 mins later a japanese friend does!

hahaha

sorry.. stupid comment... but its a part of the game ;)

#Abhishek,
Welcome to Sayeshaz! Thanks for dropping by. :)

#Raj,
Yeah, I guess on some levels it would be scary... :)

#Mani,
Hahaha! So you've gone up in ranking, eh? ;)

//Sometimes..people are there.. their memories are there in my mind

True... sometimes I also feel that people I miss are really here with me, and I can SO feel their presence you know... I guess connection strong hai, toh across distances bhi mulaqaat ho jati hai :)

#Randomraj,

// There's nothing to fear about an audio file...

Well, the audio in the video file was too much... I don't ever wanna hear it again! :O

//idhar udhar jaate jaate haalat kharab ho jaati!

Arre the "chham se" thing would only work if BOTH parties wanna meet each other! It's not like kisi ne yaad kiya hai toh jana hi hai! :P

//if 1 american friend wants 2 talk 2 you and 2 mins later a japanese friend does!
The question is -- whom do I wanna talk to? Pick one and pop by! ;)

Then we would realize it was not as nice as we imagined it in our mind. Fantasies shud never come true, b/c when it play out in real life, it will be nothing close to our fantasy

For guys the sound effect can be "Dhamm se vo aa jaye dhamm se aa jaye"!

What if you are thinking of your sworn enemy aur dhamm se vo aajaye aur dhamm dhamm ho jaye?! :))

Few People are simply good in memories..we like to remember them.. and we wish also if they could be with us.. but in reality if they come up.. it will mess up.

isn't it ?

Sayesha said...

#Kroopa,
Yeah, it wouldn't be, because reality has already been defined by us. But what this was part of the reality we're so familiar with?

#Thanu,
Yeah, you may be right... sometimes the feeling of missing someone but not being able to meet them is also quite an experience, hai na? :)

#Jughead!
Hey bhagwan, I clicked on jughead and went to your blog without looking at the URL, and I was like "Oh God this guy writes exactly like Abhi!" (In case you didn't know, you have a very distinct style of punctuation that can be identified from a mile away without reading your posts.) Then I saw IIM Cal, and I was horrified that one of your classmates was writing exactly like you man... IIM mein ek module hai kya 'blog writing'? :P

Finally I saw the URL and went, "Arre yeh toh apna Munnu hai!" Haha! :D

Oye tu itna chham se idhar udhar land mat kar, bahut disturbing thought hai! :P

Aur apna mangalsutra na bech Munnu, the chham se transport company has no ticketing. Bas mann kiya aur pahunch gaye! No kharcha! Howzzat? :)

#Tinku,
Hahahahah! I having really funny visions of a world map, and all the people hopping around from one continent to another, girls chham se, and guys dhamm se! Haha! :D

#Spammy,
Arre where were you man?? Anyway, I think 27 hours of silence is much better than hearing the sounds those 'friends' were making! :O

ps: No more donwloading of any downloading software for Sayesha, man!

#Tar,
Thanks yaar! Waise, mera blog bhi kaafi pakau ho jata hai at times! :P

#Rohit,
Sometimes I wish too! :)

#Viks,
Hahahaha! :D

#MeAwinner,
Achha yeh tu hai?? Tabhi I was thinking yeh winner insaan kaun hai who seems to be very familiar with me? Bina intro ke bewdi bol diya?? :P

Arre yaar, tere sochne se kuchh nahin hoga, SRK tabhi aayega jab woh bhi sochega aur aana chahega! Not chham se I hope. I'll never be able to watch another movie of his if he does! :D

//but in reality if they come up.. it will mess up. isn't it ?

Hmm... shaayad...

Hey Sashy, I like that song "Chham Se" :-). It grew on me too.

Actually you are right....I just tried remembering someone's face, and I couldn't very well!! :-)

I have often wondered too...how lovely it would be if we could reduce distances, and just be beamed in a second, to whereever we want to go.

Wow.

Just speed read thru this post, randomly choosing some on this page...(have a lot to catch up on your blog, but too sleepy at the mo'!) and anyway...the guy turning up "cham se" conjured up the funniest visions in my head....bwahahahha! Read your 'to pee or not to pee' before this one. Imagine if someone were thinking about while you were groaning in queue outside Auntie's signboard and you had to turn up "cham se" at your friends'!!!!!!! Now THAT would be disturbing :-D

So my sense of humor is going down the (toilet) drain, but hey, its nearly midnight and had a long day at work...guess i oughta hit the sack...lol...
