The one

Some time ago, I'd written about movies that made us cry, and was amazed to see the number of gems uncovered in the comments section. That led to the idea of this post - a fun mini-poll on Bollywood.

If you had to pick just one Bollywood movie and declare it the best ever, which one would you pick?

No rating, no ranking, no genre, no era, no long list, no top three, no "It depends", no "I can't decide between X and Y", nothing. Just name one, and only one.

Results in next post. Only entries with one movie name will be considered. :)

ps: I have enabled comment moderation to avoid influence.
pps: Bewdas, stop yelling 'GOLD!' Comment moderation is on. :P

Rang de Basanti.

(Oh wait does that college food stall wala in the movie make murgi anda foods for Aamir and gang? :))

Its the best. Beats Lagaan, Munnabhai, gOldies whatever!

I can write a whole post about why its such a special movie in general and especially special to stupidosaur in particular. But won't indulge in that here.

After a lot of pondering, it was the heart that won in the end and mera dil yeh chahta hai ki I declare Dil Chahta hai as my best Bolly movie ever.

I just loved the way Farhan had made this movie. It has such a freshness to it. One can see it even after 8 or so years and it still can pass as a movie of the current year.

The friendship, the fights amongst friends, the leg pulling, the crushes, the relationships, love, confrontations with parents, falling back on parents.. is it not life beautifully depicted in a 3 hour movie..

There were other movies that were in contention for my top spot.. like the Munnabhai jodi, RDB, Sarkar, Black, Sholay, Guru but then I choose Dil Chahta Hai..

DDLJ. It has everything a bollywood movie should. Romance, comedy, action (wo in the end, jab srk gets beaten up by kuldeep and his sidekicks), drama, dancing in sarso ka khet, patriotism, three generations, lassi, beer, maa ka aashirwaad, karva chauth and of course, Shahrukh khan. It's my favourite, and i am sure most people's favorite too.. and if not, then koi ni, bade bade desho mein aisi chhoti chhoti baatein hoti rehti hain :)

it is so difficult to select one bollywood movie...

Lets see i will pick Sholay.

The movie was so typically bollywoodish with amazing dialogues and memorable characters mostly in negative role...gabbar, sambha, kalia. and then ofcourse basanti, mausi, jai-veru and thakur

hi sayesha, i usually come to this place, read all and silently move on. But am tempted to comment on this one. my all time favourite is "masoom". The portrayal looks so real, thanks to all the characters involved including the children in the movie, that it stays with you for a long time.
